Written just for our residents, Scuttlebutt has information about events at our properties and in the Bath community. It is delivered to each resident at the beginning of every month. Why Scuttlebutt? In keeping with our nautical theme (Bath is the City of Ships, after all), scuttlebutt is a slang term for rumor or gossip and is derived from the nautical term for the cask used to serve water (ie a water fountain). Since sailors exchanged gossip when they gathered at the scuttlebutt for a drink of water, scuttlebutt became Navy slang for gossip or rumors.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Bath Housing moved to weekly communications with residents in March 2020. In November 2020, we have moved back to a resident newsletter that will be published every other week. Here are some samples:
