COVID-19 Update March 16, 2020

March 16, 2020

Dear Residents:

In light of the continuously changing recommendations designed to slow the spread of COVID-19 (the Coronavirus), please be aware that effective today, we are implementing the following changes:

  • The Bath Housing administrative office on Congress Avenue is closed to the public, including residents. Our drop slot is available in the front door should you need to get anything to us.  Staff will be available by phone, and the numbers below are direct numbers:

  • You may also continue to place Work Orders (emergency Work Orders only right now, please) with Sarah.

  • We expect things will be changing rapidly throughout our community in the coming days and weeks. We also recognize that many of these changes represent both inconvenience and hardship.  Our Resident Service Coordinator will be working continuously to identify resources and welcomes your feedback on current needs.

    • The Community Bathrooms and Community Kitchens in each building will be shut down.

    • We will be delivering this week’s gleaning to Community Room refrigerators.

    • The CDC has indicated that older adults and individuals with serious medical conditions are at higher risk of becoming very ill from COVID-19. We strongly encourage you to give serious thought to refusing visitors during this time.  We also strongly encourage limiting or avoiding Community Room gatherings.

    • Bath Housing will be posting updates in the community area of your building and sharing the same updates via OneCall every Monday and Thursday for the foreseeable future.

    • At this point, the Bath City Bus is still operating, though this service may be discontinued in the future as well. If you need passes, please contact Kristen by the end of this week, at which point we will deliver envelopes with first names to a community space in your building.  These envelopes will include a month’s supply of passes.

    • Please do not flush any material other than toilet paper in your toilet in order to avoid risks of clogs in the system. If you are in need of toilet paper, please contact our office.

    • Please continue to keep in mind the critical CDC recommendations that we can all take to help reduce the spread of this and other illnesses:

        1. Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use alcohol-based hand sanitizer
        1. Avoid close contact with people who are sick
        1. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands
        1. Stay home while you’re sick and avoid close contact with others

The CDC has indicated that the virus appears to spread by coughing, sneezing, close personal contact (such as touching or shaking hands, touching an object with the virus on it and then touching your mouth, nose or eyes.  This is behind the recommendations to limit gatherings and contact with others.

Please know that our intent in these precautions is to take as active a role as we possibly can in slowing the spread of this illness in our community.  Across the globe and here in Bath, we are all in this together, so please do not hesitate to reach out to us with any questions or needs.
